Dear Families,
We learned so much in school this week. We learned the definitions of transparent, translucent, and opaque and sorted objects into the correct category. We also finished our body systems unit with Dr. Welbody. Ask your child to tell you about their body systems! We are ready to start a unit about Common Threads: Different Lands, Similar Stories. Continue to practice tricky words and read the decodable stories that are sent home!
Special Math Graphing
Next week we will be using Skittles to do a special math lesson. If you would not like your child to participate in this
math lesson, please let me know and they will have an alternative activity
available. Thank you!
Recess
As the weather is changing, please send your child with coats and sweatshirts to keep them warm at recess. We try to go outside every day and we want to make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Please label outerwear so it can easily be returned if lost.
Halloween- Friday, October 30, 2026
***From the Principal’s Message
To make sure the day is fun for everyone, here’s all you need to know about costumes and our school festivities. We can’t wait to celebrate together!
Costumes
As you are planning your child’s costume, please keep in mind that costumes must be school-appropriate. This includes:
No blood, gore, or masks.
No weapons of any kind (real or pretend).
No bare torsos.
No cigars, cigarettes, or related items.
Hair coloring and makeup kept simple
Children should come to school as if it were a typical school day. Children will change into their costumes after lunch. We can’t wait to see all the creativity and fun!
Halloween Festivities
As always, our plan is to have the Halloween parade outside if the weather cooperates with us! Below are some helpful reminders about our afternoon.
The Halloween Parade will begin inside the building around 1:30pm. Students and staff will line the hallway and walk through the building to show off their costumes before heading outside for parents to see students. Parents are not allowed in the building during the parade.
After the students parade around the school, students will exit out the gym door and walk on the sidewalk in front of the school. Students will have the option of wearing a coat when walking outside.
Parents can enjoy the parade from the front parking lot. Feel free to get out of your car and stand on the blacktop areas near the sidewalk. We encourage you to wave and support your child during this time. Please remain off the sidewalk while students are parading in front of the building. As a school, we want to make sure all students/ grade levels stay together during the parade.
Once students have walked around the front of the school, they will come back inside the building for their PTO-Sponsored Class Party. Only Halloween party volunteers will be allowed in the building after the parade. If you are a parent volunteer for the Halloween party, you must enter through the front door and sign in as usual.
Parking
If you are a pre-approved PTO volunteer staying for the party, please park only in the Kildeer parking lots facing the building. Please do not park along the sidewalk or in the back parking lot/bus circle, as these areas must be completely clear by 2:15 p.m. for bus arrival.
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping our celebrations safe and enjoyable for everyone! Questions? Reach out to the PTO at kildeerpto@gmail.com
50’s Day
We are so excited to celebrate the 50th day of school! Our celebration will be on Friday, November 6. We encourage students to dress up in clothing from the 1950s, but it is not required. Please do not feel like you need to purchase anything new for this! Students can wear rolled jeans and a white shirt, a skirt and top or a dress. They can also tie a scarf around their neck or in their hair. We can’t wait to see everyone on this special day!
Important Dates:
Thursday, October 29 - Long Grove Fire Station field trip
Friday, October 30th - Halloween Parade 1:30 and Party 2:00
Friday, November 6th - 50th Day of school celebration
As always, thank you for all of your support at home. Have a great weekend!
