Dear Families,
We learned so much in school this week. We learned how to send messages using lights. We also finished our body systems unit with Dr. Welbody. Ask your child to tell you about their body systems! We are ready to start a unit about Common Threads: Different Lands, Similar Stories. Continue to practice tricky words and reading the decodable stories that are sent home!
Recess
As the weather is changing, please send your child with coats and sweatshirts to keep them warm at recess. We try to go outside every day and we want to make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Please label outerwear so it can easily be returned if lost.
Kildeer Countryside Coat Drive (Now until Nov. 10th)
Our community has been given the wonderful opportunity to help families and individuals needing warm outerwear this winter by donating NEW items for people of all ages. Accepting NEW coats, scarves, hats and gloves for both ADULTS and CHILDREN. Donations may be sent to school with your child and/or placed in the donation box in the foyer.
Halloween Costumes
When selecting or creating a costume with your child to wear at school, please be sure that the following expectations are followed:
Must be appropriate for school
No masks, blood, super scary stuff, general ickiness, or weapons
No cigars or cigarette items
No bare tummies
Please keep hair coloring and make-up simple
Halloween
We are looking forward to a fun day on Friday, October 31st. Please have your children bring their costumes to school in their backpacks or a bag. They will have time to put their costumes on over their clothes in the afternoon prior to the parade. Students can also choose not to wear costumes at school.
The parade may be viewed by families outdoors along the front of our school at 1:30 pm, starting by the large gym doors. Families should remain across the driveway to view students on the sidewalk. If it rains, it will be indoors for students and staff only. Parties will begin at approximately 2:00 pm and end at 2:45 pm. Only PTO-approved parent party volunteers may attend classroom parties
50’s Day
We are so excited to celebrate the 50th day of school! Our celebration will be on Friday, November 7. We encourage students to dress up in clothing from the 1950s, but it is not required. Please do not feel like you need to purchase anything new for this! Students can wear rolled jeans and a white shirt, a skirt and top or a dress. They can also tie a scarf around
their neck or in their hair. Our celebration will include a sock hop! We can’t wait to see everyone on this special day!
Important Dates:
Friday, October 31st - Halloween Parade 1:30 and Party 2:00
Friday, November 7th - 50th Day of school celebration
As always, thank you for all of your support at home. Have a great weekend!
