Dear Families,

Happy Friday!  This week we had fun learning about graphs and graphing data we collected during the month of October.  Our class is learning about the parts of a graph, how to create bar graphs, tally charts and pictographs. We are also working to ask and answer questions about different graphs. It is so fun to share our favorites to create different graphs. You could make a graph as a family to get involved in the fun!  We also ended the week with a SPOOKTACULAR Halloween parade and party. The class showed off their cool costumes then participated in a Halloween party filled with fun games and activities.  Thank you to all the room volunteers who helped plan, organize and lead out these great parties.  We are so lucky to have your support!

Special Math Graphing

Next week we will be using Skittles to do a special math lesson. If you would not like your child to participate in this math lesson, please let me know and they will have an alternative activity available. Thank you!

50’s Day

We are so excited to celebrate the 50th day of school! Our celebration will be on Friday, November 7th. We encourage students to dress up in clothing from the 1950s, but it is not required. Please do not feel like you need to purchase anything new for this! Students can wear rolled jeans and a white shirt, a skirt and top or a dress. They can also tie a scarf around their neck or in their hair. Our celebration will include a sock hop! We can’t wait to see everyone on this special day!

Homework

Math homework is sent home 1 or 2 days a week.  As well as Literacy homework most nights.  Math homework is to be returned, and Literacy homework is  just activities to do at home and nothing to return.  Don’t forget to have your child check their folder each night to ensure that the students complete their homework and turn it in within a timely manner.

Recess

Please send your child with coats and sweatshirts to keep them warm at recess.  We try to go outside every day and we want to make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.
